Tells the Story of the Movie 'Mega Mind'

Megamind (Will Ferrell) is a super-intelligent alien who — at only eight days old — is sent to Earth by his parents as his home planet is destroyed by a black hole. However, he lands in the Prison for the Criminally Gifted at Metro City, thanks to another infant alien similarly sent from a different planet who eventually becomes a superhero known as Metro Man (Brad Pitt), defender of the fictional Metro City. As a result, Megamind is raised as a social deviant, who is neglected for his destructive intellect, with his piranha-like sidekick Minion (David Cross) as his only friend. Realizing that he is only gifted in causing trouble, and jealous of all of the attention and praise young Metro Man receives, Megamind becomes a supervillain to rival Metro Man, though he is thwarted on a regular basis, despite being assisted by Minion and an army of "Brainbots".

During one of his many attempts to defeat Metro Man, Megamind kidnaps news reporter Roxanne Ritchi (Tina Fey) and uses her as bait to lure Metro Man into the city observatory where Megamind intends to kill him with a death ray. The plan appears flawed enough for Metro Man to escape, but he proclaims that the inside of the observatory is lined with copper, which he says drains his power. Metro Man is then seemingly killed by the death-ray. Megamind is initially thrilled that he has defeated his archenemy, and he proceeds to live the criminal dream life, taking over town hall and plundering the city. His happiness more of an assumption than a reality, he soon grows depressed over the fact that without someone to fight, his life as a supervillain no longer has any purpose.

Megamind runs into a museum curator named Bernard (Ben Stiller) while destroying the Metro Man Museum and trying to avoid Roxanne, and disguises himself as him, dehydrating the real Bernard. Roxanne and Megamind disguised as Bernard leave the building before it is destroyed. Megamind disguised as Bernard begins dating Roxanne, and she inspires him to create a new superhero to fight using a serum of Metro Man's DNA. Hoping to uncover any evil plans Megamind has for the city, Roxanne breaks into Megamind's lair and fights with him over a syringe gun containing the serum, which is accidentally fired and injected into Roxanne's cameraman Hal Stewart (Jonah Hill). Megamind manipulates Hal into becoming a superhero named Tighten under the guide of being "space dad", but at the same time falls in love with Roxanne and begins dating her while disguised as Bernard. Tighten attempts to use his powers to woo Roxanne, but is quickly spurned and grows jealous of the Bernard-disguised Megamind. Megamind soon begins having second thoughts about being a villain, finding more enjoyment pursuing a relationship with Roxanne. Minion discovers the relationship, quarrels with Megamind over it, claiming that "the bad guy doesn't get the girl!" Frustrated, Megamind then yells that he doesn't want to be the "bad guy" anymore and tells Minion to go, telling Minion that he doesn't need him. Saddened, Minion leaves, their friendship apparently lost.

After Roxanne kisses "Bernard" on a date, Megamind's identity is accidentally exposed when Roxanne unintentionally deactivates his holowatch, causing Roxanne to reject him as she is unable to reconcile his past evil deeds with his real, more empathetic temperament. Heartbroken, Megamind follows through with his plan to fight Tighten. By this time, Tighten has decided he would rather be a supervillain. Hal is socially awkward, and it is assumed he has lived a life of mediocrity. Resentful of life and perceived apathy, Hal as Tighten expresses his psychology by stealing money, art, video games, surfboards and a big screen TV and saying it is too much work to be a hero. Disgusted, Megamind provokes Tighten by revealing he is both the "space dad" and Bernard. Utterly furious that the "intellectual dweeb" stole Roxanne, Hal attacks with a vengeance-but unlike Metro Man, Tighten has no qualms with outright killing Megamind, and Megamind is forced to flee for his life. With nobody to stop him, Tighten begins wreaking havoc in Metro City in revenge for Roxanne spurning him and all who'd ever called him a loser.

Megamind attacks Tighten with a copper sphere, but is shocked to see Tighten escape the copper sphere with one punch. Confused about this inconsistency, Megamind convinces Roxanne to search for clues about his weaknesses in Metro Man's old hideout. There, they discover that Metro Man is still alive and learn that he faked his death (and his weakness to copper) so that he could retire from being a superhero—having realized that he'd lived his entire life without ever actually making a choice about what he really wanted—and live his true passion: music. Megamind and Roxanne try to persuade Metro Man to defeat Tighten, but he refuses. Roxanne and Metro Man instead prompt Megamind to fight, but he refuses, claiming that he's not a hero and "I don't get the girl." He instead turns himself in to his regularly attended prison. When Tighten kidnaps Roxanne, however, Megamind is broken out of prison by Minion (disguised with the holowatch as the warden of the prison, and only lets him out and reveals himself after he gets an apology) and goes to save her. Minion, disguised as Megamind, rescues Roxanne but is wounded in the process. Metro Man then miraculously shows up, but is actually Megamind in disguise. He manages to intimidate Tighten into fleeing the city, until he accidentally calls Metro City "Metrocity", as he always has. After taking a beating from Tighten, Megamind defeats him by using the Defuseer Gun to drain Metro Man's DNA from his body, and thus stripping him of his powers. Hal ends up in Megamind's former prison cell, while Megamind is embraced by Metro City as its new defender. Roxanne accepts Megamind and he "gets the girl," having proved himself a true hero. Megamind decides he is deeply satisfied with his new role as the hero and Roxanne's beau, as a disguised Metro Man silently congratulates him.

A post-credits scene shows Minion doing the laundry, only for Bernard—who was "de-hydrated" by one of Megamind's weapons and turned into a small cube—to pop out of the washing machine claiming that this was the worst day of his life; Minion then responds and whacks him with a forget-me-stick.

Market Segmentation

The division of a market into different homogeneous groups of consumers is known as market segmentation.

Rather than offer the same marketing mix to vastly different customers, market segmentation makes it possible for firms to tailor the marketing mix for specific target markets, thus better satisfying customer needs. Not all elements of the marketing mix are necessarily changed from one segment to the next. For example, in some cases only the promotional campaigns would differ.

A market segment should be:

  • measurable
  • accessible by communication and distribution channels
  • different in its response to a marketing mix
  • durable (not changing too quickly)
  • substantial enough to be profitable

A market can be segmented by various bases, and industrial markets are segmented somewhat differently from consumer markets, as described below.

Consumer Market Segmentation

A basis for segmentation is a factor that varies among groups within a market, but that is consistent within groups. One can identify four primary bases on which to segment a consumer market:

  • Geographic segmentation is based on regional variables such as region, climate, population density, and population growth rate.

  • Demographic segmentation is based on variables such as age, gender, ethnicity, education, occupation, income, and family status.

  • Psychographic segmentation is based on variables such as values, attitudes, and lifestyle.

  • Behavioral segmentation is based on variables such as usage rate and patterns, price sensitivity, brand loyalty, and benefits sought.

The optimal bases on which to segment the market depend on the particular situation and are determined by marketing research, market trends, and managerial judgment.

Business Market Segmentation

While many of the consumer market segmentation bases can be applied to businesses and organizations, the different nature of business markets often leads to segmentation on the following bases:

  • Geographic segmentation - based on regional variables such as customer concentration, regional industrial growth rate, and international macroeconomic factors.

  • Customer type - based on factors such as the size of the organization, its industry, position in the value chain, etc.

  • Buyer behavior - based on factors such as loyalty to suppliers, usage patterns, and order size.

Profiling the Segments

The identified market segments are summarized by profiles, often given a descriptive name. From these profiles, the attractiveness of each segment can be evaluated and a target market segment selected.

Entrepreneurship

The concept of entrepreneurship has a wide range of meanings. On the one extreme an entrepreneur is a person of very high aptitude who pioneers change, possessing characteristics found in only a very small fraction of the population. On the other extreme of definitions, anyone who wants to work for himself or herself is considered to be an entrepreneur.

The word entrepreneur originates from the French word, entreprendre, which means "to undertake." In a business context, it means to start a business. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary presents the definition of an entrepreneur as one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise.

Schumpeter's View of Entrepreneurship

Austrian economist Joseph Schumpeter 's definition of entrepreneurship placed an emphasis on innovation, such as:

  • new products
  • new production methods
  • new markets
  • new forms of organization

Wealth is created when such innovation results in new demand. From this viewpoint, one can define the function of the entrepreneur as one of combining various input factors in an innovative manner to generate value to the customer with the hope that this value will exceed the cost of the input factors, thus generating superior returns that result in the creation of wealth.

Entrepreneurship vs. Small Business

Many people use the terms "entrepreneur" and "small business owner" synonymously. While they may have much in common, there are significant differences between the entrepreneurial venture and the small business. Entrepreneurial ventures differ from small businesses in these ways:

  1. Amount of wealth creation - rather than simply generating an income stream that replaces traditional employment, a successful entrepreneurial venture creates substantial wealth, typically in excess of several million dollars of profit.

  2. Speed of wealth creation - while a successful small business can generate several million dollars of profit over a lifetime, entrepreneurial wealth creation often is rapid; for example, within 5 years.

  3. Risk - the risk of an entrepreneurial venture must be high; otherwise, with the incentive of sure profits many entrepreneurs would be pursuing the idea and the opportunity no longer would exist.

  4. Innovation - entrepreneurship often involves substantial innovation beyond what a small business might exhibit. This innovation gives the venture the competitive advantage that results in wealth creation. The innovation may be in the product or service itself, or in the business processes used to deliver it.

Prevent Cancer with a Vegetarian Diet

Prevent Cancer

Cancer is becoming more and more prevalent these days, whether it's breast cancer, colon cancer, or lung cancer. It has become more of a fear. In some cases, there's not much you can do to prevent cancer, as some believe that some forms of cancer are hereditary, but others believe that some forms of cancer are situational and environmental.

For the hereditary cancer, I'm not sure what one can do to potentially prevent cancer, but in regards to situational and environment cancer, there is evidence that a vegan or vegetarian diet can be a potential preventative.

Although, there isn't any 100 percent proof that changing to a vegetarian diet will prevent cancer there is evidence that it may because the overall diet is much healthier, and according to officials at the National Cancer Institute about 80 percent of cancer can actually be prevented by dietary changes.

Prevent Breast Cancer

About 1 in every 8 women develop breast cancer, so the odds of getting this form of cancer is rather high. The thought process of the increased risk of developing breast cancer is potentially caused by the extra preservatives, toxins, and unnatural fillers in foods. By changing to a vegetarian diet and eating healthier, one can potentially prevent the odds of developing breast cancer.

A diet that is low in sugar, minimizes dairy and meat products, and contains high levels of greens, fruits, and vitamin D, leads to higher odds of cancer prevention.

Vitamin D is essential for the immune system, as it aids the body in attacking cancer cells, especially breast cancer cells. The vitamin D prevents the cancer cells from dividing and multiplying. Try eating foods that are rich in vitamin D, such as mushrooms, dark leafy green vegetables, fish oil, soy milk, and rice milk. You can also find enriched breads and grains. Also, keep in mind that you can absorb vitamin D from the sun; fair skinned individuals will benefit from 10-15 minutes a day, while darker skinned individuals will benefit from up to an hour a day.

It is thought that diets that are rich in fats, meat, and dairy products cause hormones to flourish and excess saturated fat, which can potentially cause breast cancer, but vegetarian and vegan diets can prevent if not reverse breast cancer.

There are many reports of breast cancer survivors that have changed their diet after chemo and cancer treatments, and have reported many cancer-free years.

Prevent Colon Cancer

Colon cancer is the most prevalent in Western societies because the average diets are rich in red meat, dairy, and fat, so by switching to a vegetarian diet, you can reduce the chances of contracting colon cancer.

Maintaining a diet rich in red meat and fats, shows about a 50% increased risk of developing colon cancer.

In one study, participants were put on either a vegetarian, red meat, or red meat and high-fiber diet for 15 days, and after the study, blood tests were taken from each participant. Those on the red meat diet had significantly higher levels of N-nitrosocompounds, which is a compound that can alter DNA and increase risks of colon cancer. The less meat in the diet and the more fiber that was in the diet the less N-nitrosocompounds that were detected. It's thought that the fiber helps to repair damaged DNA, as well as decrease the harmful compounds that stay in the colon.

Other Cancers that can Potentially be Prevented with Vegetarian Diet

  • Bladder Cancer
  • Lymphoma
  • Male Lung Cancer (attributed to animal sources of protein and calcium)
  • Ovarian Cancer
  • Pancreas Cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Rectum Cancer
  • Stomach Cancer

Reasons a Vegetarian Diet can Prevent Cancer

  • Vegetarian diets typically include antioxidant-rich foods, which help fight free radicals which can cause cancer (Brightly colored fruits and vegetables, as well as vitamins A, C, D, and E are antioxidants that are quite beneficial to the body).
  • Fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals, which aid the immune system at destroying tumors.
  • A German study has sown that men who are vegetarians have twice the number of natural killer cell activity than men of the same age who have a more omnivorous diet.
  • It is thought that plant-based fibers, proteins, and diets can hinder cancer cell metastasis.

13 Herbal Teas for Biliary Dyskinesia

Herbal Remedies for hypotonic biliary dyskinesia (lazy gallbladder)

Biliary dyskinesia can be treated with herbs. The most effective products are herbal teas made from various plants, including Artichokes, Dandelion, Lemon balm etc.

They stimulate bile secretion in the liver cell (choleretic action) and the gallbladder contraction in order to eliminate the bile in the duodenum (cholagogue action).

globe artichoke1. Globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus) tones liver cells and enhances their antitoxic function.

Artichokes proved to be a strong cholagogue. It causes bile secretion and has a strong digestive action, facilitating food assimilation. It is also an excellent diuretic and depurative.

Although the tea from leaves and root is bitter it is very good for maintaining health and body regeneration because it has a high content in salt and minerals.

Infusion: 1 teaspoon of leaves to 1 cup of water.

Drink 2 cups a day before the main meals: 1 cup in the morning on an empty stomach, after which lie half an hour on the right side, the second cup is drunk in 2 halves, half an hour before the main meals.

Treatment is done gradually starting with lower doses. It lasts for 20-30 days, 1 month break, then resume.

2. Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale). The active principles of dandelion doubles the amount of bile secreted in just half an hour.

Infusion: 2 teaspoons of whole herb to a cup of water, 2-3 cups per day.

St-John-s-wort3. St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) rejuvenates the liver.

St. John's Wort is inflammatory and cholagogue (favors the bile evacuation in the duodenum), so it is suitable in liver diseases and digestive tract.

It prevents liver cell degeneration and soothes stomach pains.

  • Infusion of 1 teaspoon of herb to 1 cup of water. Drink 2-3 cups a day.
  • Infusion of 2 tablespoons of herb to 1 cup of water. Drink 1 tablespoon after every meal.
  • 1 teaspoon of St. John's Wort Oil after meals.

4. Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis)
Infusion: 10 g / 0.35 oz leaves and blossom into a cup with water. Drink 2-3 cups a day.

milk_thistle5. Milk Thistle seeds (Silybum marianum)

  • Decoction: 20 g / 0.7 oz seeds in a cup of water. Drink half an hour before meals.
  • Mixture of Milk Thistle and Artichokes tincture, in equal proportions. Drink 1 teaspoon of this combination 4 times daily, preferably before the main meals.

It ha a strong stimulating effect on bile production, favors its ejection. It prevents the accumulation of calculi (gall stones) in the gallbladder and decreases inflammatory states.

This treatment is recommended also for dyspepsia (upset stomach or indigestion) or difficult digestion.

6. Centaury (Centaurium umbellatum) has a strong stimulant effect on the gallbladder muscle, favoring the ejection of bile.

It is very effective in preventing cholecystitis and especially biliary lithiasis (gall stones).

  • Drink 1 teaspoon of Centaury hydroalcoholic extract diluted with some water, a quarter-hour before each meal for 3 weeks.
  • Infusion of 1 teaspoon of herb to 1 cup of water. Drink a quarter cup half an hour before the main meals.
  • Drink 30-40 drops of tincture in sweetened water before eating (20 g / 0.7 oz of plant soaked in 100 ml of alcohol for 8 days).
Use with caution during byliary dyskinesia crisis, as it can cause contraction of gallbladder muscles and can aggravate the pain.

7. Buckthorn bark (Cortex Frangulae) excites the gallbladder, increases the biliary secretion and is being used especially in cases where insufficient bile secretion cause biliary lithiasis.

Decoction: 1 tablespoon of bark to 1 cup of water. Drink before bedtime.

Celandine8. Celandine (Herba Chelidoni) also has an antispasmodic action (calms gallbladder pain)

Infusion: Half a teaspoon to a cup of water. Drink gradually during the day (1-2 tablespoons, 3 hours apart).

Avoid overdosage or drinking a larger quantity than prescribed, because it may have a toxic action.

9. Chicory (the aerial part and root) (Herba et Radix Cichorii), which Galen called a friend of the liver, can be eaten as a salad made from young leaves

Infusion: 15 g / 0.53 oz of dried leaves to 1 l / 34 oz of water. Drink 1-2 cups per day.

10. Sage leaves (Folium salviae)
Infusion: 1 teaspoon of leaves to 1 cup of water. Drink gradually during the day.

It is contraindicated for nursing mothers as it will decrease milk secretion.

11. White Horehound / Common Horehound (Marrubium vulgare)

  • Infusion: 1 teaspoon of herb to 1 cup water. Drink 2-3 cups a day.
  • Infusion: 2 tablespoons of herb to 1 cup of water. Drink 3-4 tablespoons per day.

12. Peppermint (Mentha piperita) - reduces inflammation and calms gall spasms in byliary dyskinesia.

Mint regulates stomach, gallbladder and liver functions and combats aerophagia, vomiting, stomach cramps, colic, intestinal parasites and liver diseases.

rhubarb_rheum13. Rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum / Rheum officinale) reduces cholesterol and cleans the liver.

Attention! Only the stem are edible and only if they are healthy! The rhubarb leaves are toxic, they contain oxalic acid in a concentration damaging the human body.
